Our weather is quickly changing. Temperatures falling, and roads are starting to freeze; it’s time to winterize your vehicle before snowfall.  The most important part of winterizing is to get studded tires that fit your car and or match your lug pattern of your vehicle. If your cold weather tires are on rims you can change the tires yourself.  If you haven’t ever changed a tire before, you’ll be better off going to a body or tire shop or doing some research, YouTube has some very useful tutorials on tire changing if you need any help.  Usually a shop doesn’t charge an enormous amount of money, but if you do it yourself it’s important to note that you are in for a two to three hour job.

To get the tires off your vehicle you will first jack-up your car/ truck, then get a tire wrench and take off each and every lug nut, be sure your vehicle is jacked-up safely and that it is stable so it does not tip or fall onto you or the ground. Next remove the summer tires and replace them with studded or All-Terrain tires. Another important element of winterizing is to make sure you have antifreeze coolant, not water, in your radiator, because that will safeguard against some major winter problems such as a cracked radiator or split hoses or water leaking into the headers which could cause a crack the case.

There are many driving problems that can be avoided by doing a simple winterization, in the long run it will save you some stress and some money.
